Boost a Redbird’s Career with an Archives Internship
The Dr. Jo Ann Rayfield Archives at Illinois State University is the official repository for selected materials that document the history of the university and all aspects of university life.
The University Archives supports the Illinois State community's research and teaching goals. Collected materials include official records from governing boards, campus offices, faculty and student governance bodies, committees, colleges, departments, faculty and student organizations, and also materials from Illinois educational organizations pertaining to the university and local manuscripts or archival materials of individuals, clubs or business relating to the university.
Students who intern at University Archives learn valuable, hands-on, transferable skills that will develop their career readiness and give them the opportunity to engage with their community. Working alongside Milner Library’s archivists, students may learn how to process materials donated to Archives; work on Wikipedia content research and creation; curate an exhibit with archival materials; or create copy, photos, or video for specialized research projects or social media. Internships may also include processing materials at external community organizations such as the YWCA or the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois.
Help us reach our goal
We have a goal to raise $10,000 to fund the sustainability of these paid library internships.
Your support will help ensure students can focus on learning and developing skills rather than balancing other jobs or seeking additional financial support.
By offering these paid internships, we make sure all Redbirds are able to take advantage of these career-building opportunities.
