Help us Prepare the Next Generation of Research Advocates!!
Support Redbird Researchers headed to Washington, D.C.
Illinois State University’s team of researchers has been selected for the Council of Undergraduate Research’s 2024 Students Transforming through Research (STR) cohort! The STR Program is a competitive application-based professional development opportunity for teams consisting of a campus representative and one to three undergraduate students.
The ISU Team
ISU’s team consists of OSR Director Dr. Gina Hunter and
Biological Sciences students, Brenna Long and Tara Geyer. They will participate
in a multi-month program aimed at developing communication and advocacy skills
so that they can convey the power of the high-impact practices of undergraduate
research, scholarship, and creative inquiry to diverse stakeholder groups. The
program begins in November 2024 and concludes in March 2025 with in-person
visits with elected governmental officials and staff in Washington, DC.
We Need Your Help
While the Office of Student Research will cover most costs associated with the STR. We are asking for your help to raise $3,000 to cover Tara and Brenna’s travel expenses so that we do not have to use funds from other student research grants. Any size gift will help.
Why Your Support Matters
Only one other team in Illinois was accepted to participate. In fact, Brenna and Tara are among only 146 undergraduates nationwide to make the cut. Please help us send them to the Capitol!
By supporting this program, you are helping to launch an exciting new chapter for in the Office of Student Research, as Illinois State University’s team bring back skills to lead, advocacy, and inspire future students to make a meaningful civic impact.
Thank you for giving and supporting our Redbirds!
