Support the Future of IT
***We've added a stretch goal for a total of $15,000! Thanks to you and generous alumni, we've met our initial goal of $10,000. Help us meet our stretch goal to support more incoming students this summer.***
Illinois
State University proudly presents the Summer IT Academy, an exceptional
opportunity that goes beyond typical summer programs. It's a transformative
journey that equips aspiring IT students with the skills they need for a successful journey in the School of IT.
Empowering First-Year IT Students
The goal
is to come together to raise $10,000 and bring the Summer IT Academy to life
for 30 first-year IT students at Illinois State University. This one-week
residential coding experience is all about empowering students. Your generous
support ensures that students can participate with a minimal financial burden,
covering their housing and food throughout this time.
Fostering Diversity in IT
Within
the School of IT, students come from diverse backgrounds. Some arrive well-prepared,
while others seek to enhance their skills. To bridge this gap, the Summer IT
Academy offers hands-on programming experiences, engaging activities, and
opportunities to showcase newfound skills, all led by experienced instructors
and supported by near-peer mentors.
The
mission is to empower students, particularly those from traditionally
underrepresented groups in IT. This includes first-generation students,
individuals from schools without Advanced Placement IT programs, those from
lower socio-economic backgrounds, women, and people of color.
We need your help to reach our goal
By
contributing, you're not just providing financial assistance; you're investing
in the dreams and aspirations of more Redbirds. Your gift motivates students
toward excellence in their IT major, shaping a future that celebrates
diversity, fosters inclusivity, and opens doors to a world of opportunities in
the tech field.
Thank you for your support!
