The Commemorative Public Service Scholarship was established in 2012 by the alumnae and undergraduate women who were initiated into the Theta Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at Illinois State University in the memory of member Carol Johnson who succumbed to breast cancer. Since that time, other members have transitioned and the members felt this scholarship can represent all members initiated at Theta Delta who transition.
