WGLT selected as Report for America host newsroom
WGLT has the prestigious honor to be selected as a
2023 Report for America host newsroom, expanding our capacity to provide more
mental health coverage. WGLT competed against hundreds of worthy newsroom
applicants across the country and is one of fewer than 30 funded projects
following a highly selective process.
WGLT is the only Illinois newsroom outside of Chicago selected as a Report for America host location.
Welcome to the Team, Melissa Ellin!
WGLT will welcome our Report for America corps
member in July. Reporter Melissa Ellin, a recent Boston University graduate,
will return to Illinois for the posting. She brings real-world experience with
her having reported for the Boston Globe and Metro West Daily News.
Fund WGLT’s Mental Health Coverage
Report for America is investing $22,000. WGLT will
match that and cover benefits. We have raised $30,000 from a group of
outstanding WGLT donors who have already added their financial support PLUS
Chestnut Health Systems has stepped up with underwriting support.
