Community Engagement Dog
ISUPD is seeking funds to add a new “Pawfficer” to our team! A Police Community Engagement Dog is a cross between a traditional therapy canine and a facility canine. They are selected by their unique temperament to develop and share one special skill…affection. This dog will never be trained in illegal substances detection, biting, or human tracking.
Our program will be modeled after other successful programs around the country with a mission to comfort those in need, and engage our students, faculty, staff, and visitors while building relationships and trust with our campus law enforcement. A Community Engagement Dog will also assist University Police with educational programming, providing comfort to victims of crime as they file police reports, participating in campus programs like PAWSitively Stress Free and Festival ISU, and aiding officer morale and wellness activities.
There are lots of ways a Community Engagement Dog can contribute to our Redbird Community, but we can’t do it without you. In order to provide for her care, training, and ensure she is set up for success we need you to donate now and help us bring our perfect candidate to campus. Will you give today?
