Illinois State Farm: Hay Rake

The ISU Farm is looking to update its hay equipment for faculty and staff needs. Two pieces we would like to acquire are a wheel rake and a hay tedder. The hay rake is our first priority. It costs approximately $10,000 and is used to help gather and cure the hay, putting the forage in a tight row before baling.

The hay tedder is our second priority and also costs approximately $10,000. It is used to help spread out the forage for the drying and curing process of the forage.

This equipment will allow student workers at the farm to gain practical experience using the equipment in the field and will help the farm staff be more efficient in producing high-quality forage feed. The equipment will also expand opportunities for faculty teaching and research.
