We Did It!

December 14, 2016

Going live on June 1, the "One for One" membership drive targeted a goal of 400 new members to the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund (WSF) by the end of the calendar year, one for each student-athlete at Illinois State. On December 13, new donor No. 400 joined the WSF, completing the "One for One" membership drive as announced by the WSF staff Wednesday.

Highlights of the membership drive included donors from 10 different states making a gift to the WSF and 12 donors making a gift of over $1,000 to the annual fund.

"The 'One for One' membership drive was a creative way to draw attention to the need for annual fund support for our department. Our department is positioned well for the future, and by growing our annual membership by a substantial percentage this year, will be in even better shape moving forward," Illinois State Director of Athletics Larry Lyons said. "We will continue to push the bar higher in terms of athletic and academic success and community involvement, and are thrilled we were able to sign up 400 new donors to support our student-athletes."

The Weisbecker Scholarship Fund is the fundraising arm of the Illinois State Athletics Department. The WSF is an annual fund, which covers the cost of scholarships for over 400 Redbird student-athletes. Over the course of the last two years, the WSF has reached new heights, including signing up over 700 new members and receiving over 560 increased donations from current donors.
